The book i decided to talk about this time is called, The Selection. The Selection is a book i have never heard of, until 3 months ago where i saw it in the Library. This book is Fiction, and is about a girl who has to face poverty in Castes which are sort of ratings given to humans whether they are rich which is cast one, to caste 8 meaning they are the poorest of all castes. The setting takes place in future day Oklahoma. All of the present day technology seemed to disappear in this book in the future, which is a big reason to why i like this book, because it doesn't focus on that topic at all. The main characters in this book are America, Aspen, and Prince Maxon. America is a teenage girl living in present day Oklahoma, and is rated in caste 5. She never wanted to sign up for the selection. She was and is still in love with her ex, Aspen. And her thoughts on Prince Maxon change completely. Aspen is a 6, and is born to serve others, which is a down low. Aspen thought breaking up with America was the right thing, but turned as the complete opposite. Aspen became the Father of two little sisters, and his mom who are all counting on his hard work ever since their Father died just a few years ago. Prince Maxon is a 1. The Royal Family. The whole Selection was due to him, and his decision becomes a little harder knowing he ask to pick one out of thirty five girls. And the one he loves, is torn between him and Aspen. I think the most exciting thing about this book is when America realizes she is still in love with her soul mate Aspen, and that her feelings changer completely about Prince Maxon. This book would be interesting to those who like to read Romance. Which I think would go better to adolescent girls only because its in a all girls P.O.V. I recommend this book to those who like to read fantasy and romance.
Backstabber is a book anybody can relate to. This book is perfectly aimed at any teenager who has dealed with heartbreaks or cheating before. Backstabber is a romantic and adolescent book. Who wouldn't want to read it? The main character is named Elizabeth Walkerman. She was Conner's girlfriend before he cheated on her... Twice. When she walked into the room and found Conner and her best friend Tia, kissing she lost it and doubted her boyfriend. The setting is in a suburban world where everything seemed just fine until a whole lot of mess happened. The most interesting part was when Elizazbeth walked into the room and found Conner cheating on her with her best friend. Anyone between the ages of pre-teen and teenager would really like this book because it contains many real life situations that they could find themselves in. It's a hard-to-put-down book. I am one of those typical girls who like to read romance and fantasy books, but this year i decided to try something new. I read Mystery and Non Fiction books that i really liked and changed my perspective in the kind of books that I like. This is the list I have created.
http://www.amazon.com/Matched-Ally-Condie/dp/014241977X Matched by Ally Condie, This one is part love story and part Non- Fiction. It's a really good book because it's around the same plot as one of my other all time favorite books, which is The Hunger Games. http://www.amazon.com/Distant-Waves-Titanic-Suzanne-Weyn/dp/0545085845/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1354589883&sr=1-1&keywords=distant+waves+by+suzanne+weyn Distant Waves by Suzanne Weyn, This book is on my top 5 favorite list. This book is based on the Titanic, which included a lot of Science. I would admit that i didn't really understand much of it's Science parts but it was well written. http://www.amazon.com/Thirteen-Reasons-Why-Jay-Asher/dp/1595141715/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1354589931&sr=1-1&keywords=16+reasons+why 16 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. This was a kind of book i have never read. This book was based on a girl who passed tapes to all of the 13 victims to why she committed suicide. It was a suspense and thrilling book that i had to finish in one day. http://www.amazon.com/Crossed-Ally-Condie/dp/0525423656/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1354590035&sr=1-1&keywords=crossed+ally+condie Crossed by Ally Condie, is the sequel to Matched. This book wasn't one of those sequels you would say the original is better. This book wasn't a copy from the first, it was a really good book that made me want to read the whole trilogy of Ally's series. http://www.amazon.com/Gathering-Darkness-Rising-Kelley-Armstrong/dp/0061797030/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1354590082&sr=1-2&keywords=the+gathering The Gathering by Kelly Armstrong. This was a Fiction book that really blew my mind. It was a mixture of Monsters and Human Beings. You must imagine how that would end up in. But this one wasn't predictable, and that was what made me really like this book. If you are one of those people who like to try new things, I would advise you to read one of these 5 top books that i really liked! Matched Matched is a page- turning, thrill taking, non-stop reading book. Matched has a similarity between The Giver, and The Hunger Games. This book is rated 4 stars, by many famous known productions. For example, Common Sense Media. Matched is a Young Adult, Romance, Dystopian book. Meaning, that this book’s genre is practically aimed at most teenagers, who like to read about fantasy and romance. The setting in this book is in, Oria Province. This Province is ruled by the Capitals, where they match a boy and a girl so they could live forever. Some parts of this setting is, modernized, country bases, poor, and free spaced. They never have snow, and it’s usually warm all year round. Cassia, is one of the main characters in this book. She’s best friends with Xander and is only 17 years of age in the beginning of the book. Xander, is also one of the main characters in Matched. As I had mentioned before, he is Cassia’s best friend since kids. In this story, he gets Matched with Cassia at their Banquet. Ky, is also the main character in this book. Ky, turns out to be the true love of Cassia, and is also titled to be an aberration, which means he is separated by everyone else for committing a crime. The most exciting part of this book was when, Ky is being separated by Cassia, to go into war. Which in this book usually means, he ends up killed. Cassia promised herself she would go to the “Outer” providence, where Ky is being taken, to fight so that she could get him back. Which also means she has to leave Xander, her matched, AND her best friend, behind forever. This book, just like The Hunger Games, is an addicting book for EVERYONE. Anyone from any age is going to be interested to read this book. This book is not just exciting, thrilling and romantic, but is also a tragedy, questioning and a, once-you-start-to-read,-you-need-to-finish-immediately, book. I recommend 100%, for everyone to read this trilogy, because if you don’t, you’ll regret it. I promise. |
