They agree to play a game. If Krona wins, the Grandmaster will lead him to Galactus who has witnessed the creation. If Krona loses, he will spare the Marvel Universe. To save the universe, the Justice League must gather twelve special artifacts having mystical powers. In a clever move, Krona switches champions. The Avenger’s, the Grandmaster’s life long enemies, will represent Krona. The Justice League from Krona’s home universe will represent the Grandmaster. The Avengers are not told that if they win their universe will be destroyed. Batman and Captain America make a truce to find out the real story of what is going on between Krona and the Grandmaster. They both suspect that something is wrong. Meanwhile, the two teams are continually fighting each other to get the special artifacts to win. With the two universes merging, reality is altered and the two teams of super heroes become allies and eventually fight every villain each team has ever fought. They win and the two universes return to normal. Krona implodes and becomes a "cosmic egg" imprisoned in the JLA Watchtower. When he hatches he will learn the secrets of creation because he will be part of it.In the end, the reader learns that the "game" was really arranged between the Grandmaster and Metron, Grandmaster’s counter-part in the DC Universe. Krona was really only a pawn of both of them.

But in the end they have to work together to take down the real enemy Krona who wants to destory both universes.

This science fiction graphic novel written by Jim Kreuger is a truly mysterious story about the Justice League. The Justice League is a group of unique individuals each with their own amazing power or, for some, powers. This story takes place in an array of areas, both fictional and real. These include the Batcave, Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, Atlantis, Gotham City, Metropolis, and Africa. The chief element of the story is the unending battle of good versus evil, with a twist of superheroes versus supervillains. The principal superheroes are Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman who do battle against the likes of Lex Luthor, Joker, Brainiac, and Riddler.
Superman is the greatest of the superheroes whose powers are greater that nearly all of the others combined. Batman is the living example of integrity who will never be stopped in righting a wrong. Wonder Woman is an amazon, an alien from another planet whose powers of a magical bracelet and lasso of truth are invaluable to the others. Lex Luthor is a multi-billionaire who uses his wealth and superior intellect for the worst of motives, to control the entire world. Joker is an insane genius and for the Justice League the worst possible ally of Luthor. Brainiac is an artificial intelligence [AI] experiment gone wrong created by Kryptonians to help them with great problems. Superman is a Kryptonian which makes Superman and Brainiac related. Riddler is a technical genius who loves playing dangerous pranks or riddles on others.
Joker breaks into Batman’s computer and steals all the secret information on all the superheroes, including their weaknesses. He gives this information to Lex Luthor who produces a toxin that is uniquely effective against each of the superheroes. Luthor has his gofers battle the superheroes while he convinces the people of the world that the Justice League has abandoned them in their time of need and that they should look to him for protection, which really means domination. Eventually, an epic battle takes place. As for the victor, one must read the story.
Lovers of science fiction and the genre of the superhero would be the greatest fans of this book.
The fiction of the science is not entirely unbelievable and far fetched.. The writing is face paced and exciting, and never boring. You never know what is going to happen next and most of the times you are surprised.
