Lily B. is an average girl, who feels her life is going nowhere fast. The story takes place during summer vacation in Lily’s home town, and the book is in the form of a journal. Lily has to write in this journal during the summer for extra credit for school. She writes about everything that is happening as it happens. Her best friend, Charlotte, who she has spent every summer with since she was young, has gone off to business camp and Lily feels alone for a while, until, going to a family wedding and meeting somewhat of a distant cousin her age named Karma, who Lily believes is the coolest person she has ever met. After spending time with Karma and her irresponsible parents, Lily can't believe how lucky she is to be related to such "cool" people. Throughout the story this family tricks, manipulates, and steals money from Lily. After letting the family stay at Lily's family's lake house, where Karma's mother experiences an injury, the "cool" people Lily thought she was spending time with are revealed to be con-artists, who try suing Lily's parents for having them stay in an unsafe house. Lily learns a lot about herself, her real friends, and her real family by the end of the story, and realizes her life is cool enough. This book is fiction, because it is a made up story that didn't really happen, it was written for entertainment. I recommend this book to girls who enjoy reading about both drama and comedy. I personally enjoyed reading this book.
