Tom Ward, seventh son of a seventh son, starts work as an apprentice for the village spook, whose job is to protect ordinary folk from ghouls, boggarts, demons, dead/alive witches, and the Devil himself. This book will lure even the most reluctant readers and show them action, adventure, and horror. Tom Ward lives in a far different place where danger lies in every corner watching and waiting to strike the unwary. Tom's life before was tough as a farmer, but the moment he stepped into the shoes as an apprentice for the spook, it got much more tougher, for the dead never rest. My favorite part out of many is when Tom finds out the hard way(nearly crushed to death) that there is an invisible boggart who cooks, cleans, and defends the house. I recommend this book to teen and up, though mostly boys because it gets a bit gory at some parts.
