This is a biography that tells a story of a mans life throughout hurricane Katrina. The author is Dave Eggers. It's non-fiction and takes place in New Orleans, LA. The main character is a man named Abdulrahman Zeitoun. He has four kids and a wife named Kathy. Zeitoun owns a painting company and owns many properties in his city. Kathy helps out with the painting company with all the calls and making sure everything is going smoothly and well. Zeitoun loves his family and always wants the best for them. He is very humble and always looking to help people. An interesting part in this book is throughout the hurricane. The whole book is unique and different in its own way. It's so hard to believe that it's a true story. Kathy and the kids go off to her mothers house so they can stay away from the hurricane while Zeitoun stays home and watches his priorities. When the hurricane hits he finds an old canoe and uses it to be able to go around his neighborhood. While doing that he actually saves an old heavy woman's life. She was stuck and was about to drown but Zeitoun and his friend go over there and have her go on the canoe and they were able to get her out. Zeitoun also helps an old couple that needed to get out of their house. This was one interesting part in the book out of many. Zeitoun went through a lot in this book. He got arrested because of his race and armed men thought he was apart of the Al Qaeda which was another reason they arrested him. Kathy found out about this and got memory loss and a stress syndrome. This was a very good book and I would recommend it to anyone. As a matter of fact, i actually told a lot of people about it that are out of school. I think anyone that likes true stories will really enjoy this book. I loved this book and will check out more of Dave Eggers books.
