The books I've read this quarter were very diverse. They were full of adventure, romance, fantasy, D-R-A-M-A, and even SCI-fi. These are the books I've read:
What Happened to Goodbye - Sara Dessen: McLean, ever since her parent's divorce, has followed her dad on his business jobs. In every new town they move to, McLean "changes" herself into someone completely different. However, when she moves to her father's new job she finds herself confused on who she really is and is trying to find out who the real McLean is. I'm a really big fan of Sara Dessen and have read most of her books. In her books, the characters deal with problems most of us are dealing with today and can really relate.
Generation Dead - Daniel Waters: Phoebe and Adam live in a world where teenagers are returning from the dead. When she meets Tommy, a zombie who is a ghostly fascination, Adam can't help but feel troubled, but to make her happy he does all he can to protect him. However, in the end it all comes down to who would DIE for her. The cover and description of this book completely took me away the first time I saw it. Who doesn't love a good book where teenagers come back to life as zombies?
Between the Lines - Jodi Picoult: Delilah loves fairy tales and in particular: Between the Lines and every time she can't help but fall for the prince in the story. When the fairy tale turns into reality, Delilah (due to the prince's wish) does all she can to bring Prince Oliver out of the book. I love fairy tales and this story brought one to life (literally). It was really cool to see how it formed and how the story played out.
Delerium - Lauren Oliver: Lena is in a world where love is a danger to the humans. Her 18th birthday is the day she is cured from the deadly disease deleria. However, after learning her best friend's rebel side, Lena after helping to confide her becomes one just like her. She listens to music, dances, but worse of all falls in love with a Invalid, Alex just 95 days before her cure and has plans to escape over to the WIlds. This book reminded me a lot of the book The Giver which I loved reading. It really made me wonder of what our future holds.
Abandon - Mag Cabot: Following the Greek myth of Hades and Persephone, Pierce after returning from the dead fears for herself. After moving to her mother's old home she can't help but feel more frightened for someone is watching her, the person she was trying to escape from her living and dead life all along : John. John, however, wants Pierce to be safe from the Furies, who are trying to kill her by keeping her in the Underworld FOREVER! I love Greek mythology and the fact that this book is so twisted made me love it even more.
