Our 41st President George Bush is a Biography. A biography of a president and his early lifetime. George Bush was not just know for being president of the United States, but his leader ship throughout his early age. George Bush was the caption of the basketball, and soccer team in high school and the captain of the baseball team in college. Before George Bush getting involved in politics, he started an oil company. There really is not a clear setting of this book. In each chapter, the content takes place somewhere else. The chapters changes the setting because Bush is an outgoing person. The setting is mainly at his early age in school and congress. My favorite part of this book is when in china he was offered to take a job as a CIA and accepted it, which I believe made a sort of twist to the story. I recommend this book to people feeling bad. What I mean by that is when you read this you see how hard work pays off so if really don’t think that’s true, this is the book for you.
Jared, Simon and Mallory are all giving a huge impact on the story but in my perspective I believe Jared is the mastermind of all. Jared, Simon and Mallory end up in a new world, but how? Well in this world goblins follow their leader Mulgarath which they all ransacked their house and captured their mom. Now they have to figure how to destroy the goblins a their leader before its too late. Adventure is not what I really like to read but this book makes you rethink that. The book mostly takes place in a fantastical world at their house where most of the fun really happens. The goblins think they have it all but in the way Jared, Simon and Mallory plan their victory it turns to the goblins receiving defeat leaving there leader for last. I recommend this book to people who like to think of their own idea of what is going to happen next, using clues from the book and what really ends up happing is the complete opposite. This quarter I tried to stick on somewhat mystery/spooky. Mystery gets me as the reader excited and ready for the next chapter. As in spooky it gets me somewhat thinkable. Check out my list:
All The Lovely Bad Ones by Mary Downing Hahn: I like this book because the main characters had to discover the secret of fox hill to figure out a way to rest the spiteful spirits. The Spiderwick Chronicle The Wraft of Mulgarath by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black: I like this book because the main characters Jared, Simon and Mallory find there self in a new place but did not leave there old. They have to figure out how to destroy the goblins and not have them transport to their original home. Bone Chillers Killer Clown of Kings County by Betsy Haynes: I like this book because Zeke is having a birthday party when a clown shows up and does a crazy magic trick which makes Zeke want to try, so they start to work as a team. What the crown really want to do is get Zeke and his friends in the box of doom, where they will be lost forever. Goosebumps Monster blood 4 by R.L Stine: I like this book because it’s a huge different change up in the storyline. This book has a blue slime that grows in to viscous monsters, as for the other books they are green and change people into giants. Stealing Home the Story of Jackie Robinson by Barry Denenberg: I liked this book because it gave a brief picture of who Jackie is and what he wanted to be. Stealing Home The Story of Jackie Robinson is a biography, which is when someone talks about another person, and in this book Barry Denenberg is talking and give information of Jackie Robinson, the first black man to play a white sport. Jackie was born on a farm in Georgia on January 31, 1919. Jackie, at the age of six months his father left him and his family and told his wife he was going to visit his brother in Texas. From that point they haven’t heard from him. This book takes place in 1947 at Ebbets field as Jackie plays for the Brooklyn Dodgers. An interesting part in the story is when Jackie plays on offence in a rundown against the Chicago Cubs and SAFE! After that event he was named the most valuable player in the National league. I would recommend this book to someone who would like to know more about the early history of sports. |
