This a paranormal fantasy book is good for children above the age of twelve. I could not stop reading this book, and I can't wait for the sequel (there is one), to learn more about Amelia and Joshua's love.
Amelia, an 18 year old ghost with no remembrance of her past life, lingers around the old High Bridge. No matter what she does, people never notice her, or see her. Then, there is a car accident on High Bridge. A boy about her age is drowning and being pulled by the current and she can do nothing but watch and hope to god that he lives. She watches as his heart stops, but see's him looking into her eyes, something that has never happened before. Amelia tells him to swim, quick, and he will live. He is carried away in an ambulance, leaving Amelia bewildered. Days later, the boy comes back and introduces himself as Joshua. He tries to talk to Amelia, but fails. Amelia is not used to being seen and is inexperience with it. Amelia is not used to people, and comes across as timid, or shySoon enough, Josh and Amelia become friends, if not more. Josh helps Amelia discover her past, and visit her family undercover. When Josh takes Amelia to his house, expecting her to be unseen, his grandmother Ruby orders Amelia out of the house. Josh discovers that his family has had the "Sight" for generations, and that there duty is to rid of all evil spirits that haunt the town. Josh, unwilling to stop seeing Amelia, must prevent Amelia from being hurt by Ruby. When Amelia wanders back to High Bridge, Eli is waiting. Eli is a fellow ghost, but a powerful one. He claims Amelia as his apprentice, but she refuses, receiving a memory of her death. She learn that Eli possessed Amelia's friend to push her off the bridge. After Eli tries to do the same to Joshua's sister, Jillian, Amelia knows he must be killed. using her powers or abilities, she scares Eli away and the other powerful ghosts away for now. Joshua and Amelia convince Ruby that not all ghosts are bad. Amelia is happy with josh, although, he will get old and she will be young forever. Their love will never be forever, but they are inseparable.
